The Crime Victim Survey of Nakhon Si Thammarat Project sets off to pilot the first victimization survey for the regional area, and the second in Thailand. The CVS-N survey was conducted in 2007 by the Office of Justice Affairs, Ministry of Justice, after the completion of the Bangkok Crime Victim Survey, the first victimization survey ever conducted in Thailand, in the previous year. The primary objective of the project is to obtain the statistical estimate of the victimization both reported and not reported to the authorities for the crimes that took place in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, as well as details pertaining to the victims, their relationships to the offenders, time and location of the crimes, circumstances of the crimes and the weapons used. Another core aspect of the project involves the analysis of the results in order to identify and explain the crime phenomenon in the pilot province, as well as to compile the database and the report on crime victimization which will be disseminated to the criminal justice system agencies and the general public. The survey questionnaires and methods developed under the pilot project also provide useful reference for continuing effort to conduct the crime victim survey in the future.
