Executive Summary

     The Thailand Crime Victim Survey (TCVS) 2007 was the first nation-wide survey project aimed at obtaining direct information from the victims of crime ever conducted in Thailand. Sponsored by  Office of Justice Affairs, Ministry of Justice, the Project was implemented throughout the year 2008 following the completion of two related surveys also undertaken by OJA during the two previous years, namely: the Bangkok Crime Victim Survey (BCVS) 2005, the first victimization survey ever conducted in Thailand, piloting the survey covering the areas under the administration of the central government; and the Crime Victim Survey in Nakhon Si Thammarat (CVS-N) 2006, which covered the areas governed by the provincial administration system. TCVS set out to obtain and report the statistical estimate of nation-wide victimization. Results of the analysis are disseminated to relevant criminal justice system agencies as well as the general public. The Project also attempted to develop a coherent and sustainable crime victimization database system in Thailand for the benefit of key users including concerned agencies and stakeholders.
